#1. Essential Oils
When using essential oils you need to be cautious because some oils can be harmful to your skin.
It’s also important to note that you should never ingest essential oils.
The Best Essential Oils For Bed Bugs Are:
Tea Tree Essential Oil – works to kill bed bugs by suffocating them.
You can mix 20 drops of tea tree essential oil with 30 ml of water.
Now combine and mix into a spray bottle that you can now use to spray your sheets, mattress, bedding.
Lavender Essential Oil –
Just like with tea tree oil all you need is 30 drops but it’s ok to place as many as 40 drops of lavender essential oil and mix with 30 ml of water.
Use this mix in a spray bottle to kill bed bugs on sheets, bedding, and mattress.
Peppermint Essential Oil –
You only need 10 drops of peppermint oil mixed with 30 ml of water to get the job done.
Wearing gloves could be a good idea because your skin could be more sensitive to peppermint oil.
If you use this spray on your kid’s rooms make sure to use less than you would on the adult’s bedrooms because kids’ skin can be more sensitive.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil – is my favorite essential oil for treating bed bugs because it can kill bed bugs and their eggs.
All you need to do is mix 10 on up to 20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil with 30 ml of water.
Then spray on your bedding and mattress as well as any dark corners of your room.
#2. Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol can kill bed bugs with direct contact.
Basically, alcohol works as a solvent to kill bed bugs and dissolve their cells.
It is highly flammable so be careful if you use this method to treat bed bugs.
#3. Diatomeaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth works to kill bed bugs by suffocating them.
Make sure to wear a mask and goggles when using diatomaceous earth to kill bed bugs.
You can get this powder for cheap on eBay.
#4. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper has the ability to kill bed bugs in seconds.
A simple recipe using cayenne pepper to get rid of bed bugs:
Mix cayenne pepper, Oregano Oil, and Ground Ginger in equal parts.
Add water and mix in a spray bottle.
Now you have a powerful natural solution to get rid of bed bugs.
#5. Vacuuming
If you have bed bugs before treating for bed bugs vacuuming can be an effective way to get rid of dead and live bed bugs throughout your home.
Vacuum your entire home two or three times using a bed bug vacuum.
Once you have completed vacuuming it’s important to empty your vacuum into your outside trash.
The last thing you want is for bed bugs to escape back into your home after vacuuming.
