The CDC said that you should never bring infested items into your home from outside of it.

You also should vacuum your mattress and furniture regularly, store clothing in sealed containers or hang them up in sealed plastic bags, and clean up any clutter around the house so that bed bugs have fewer places to hide.

How to Use Cinnamon to Fight Bed Bugs

1. Mix a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with a quart of boiling water and pour it into a spray bottle – done!

2. Sprinkle the cinnamon powder around the room’s perimeter – done!

3. Sprinkle cinnamon powder on your clothes before you go to bed – done! (works best if you sleep on the floor)

4. Add some powdered cinnamon in your vacuum cleaner bag or steam.

Cinnamon is an all-natural insect repellant that has been proven to be more effective than DEET, which is the most common chemical used for keeping insects away.

It is also not harmful to humans, making it a safe alternative for everyone in the house.

But just throwing some cinnamon into your laundry and on your bed will not work. It needs to be put in places where the bugs like to hide, such as under beds or furniture near the bed.

Sprinkle cinnamon under and around your mattress and headboard so they can’t crawl out; sprinkle any other parts of your room if you have seen any activity or would just like them gone; then vacuum up any excess cinnamon.

Pros and Cons of Using Cinnamon for Bed Bugs

Bed bugs feed on human blood and while they are not known to transmit any disease, their bites can cause skin irritation.

To get rid of bed bugs, a homeowner should use a combination of both chemicals and heat.

For example, there are chemical pesticides that can be used to kill bugs.

However, this will not usually solve the problem since the eggs will still be present on furniture and carpets.

The best way to get rid of bed bugs is to use both heat and chemicals.

Benefits:

Heat treatment is the only way of getting rid of bed bugs without using any chemicals.

Cost-effective:

Chemicals are not necessary for heat treatment, which makes them a lot more cost-effective than chemical treatments that require a lot more labor in preparation.

Disadvantages:

Initial investment:

It costs money to purchase equipment for this process; it can take time and effort to research and purchase these items before you start the heat treatment process.
