Bed bugs feed on blood and the blood they prefer most is that of humans.

You may find them feeding on animals too, but they rather feed on you.

Bed Bugs are attracted to the following as well:

  • Body Heat
  • Carbon Dioxide ( As you exhale)
  • Blood

The reason bed bugs are mostly found on your bedding or around it is that it’s easy to access their sources of feeding human blood.

Any place that human being spend long periods of time is a perfect place for them to take up residence.

But you can also find them headboards, bed frames, cracks or crevices of your box spring, furniture, and other dark hiding places in your home.

There are myths out there about bed bugs being attracted to the poor or dirty homes. This is not true they don’t care about this one bit.

You can just as easily find bed bugs in a rich or clean home too.

How To Repel Bed Bugs

Now that we know what attracts bed bugs it’s good to know how to repel them too. The following list is sure-fire ways to repel these pests.

Do you love to travel? Well, so do bed bugs…

… They are very good at hitching rides on your belongings or on a person.

This is how my fight with bed bugs all started.

Some of the places you can pick up a bed bug are the following:

  • Apartments
  • Hotels
  • Movie Theatre
  • Air Ports
  • Train Stations
  • Bus Stops
  • Clothing Store/Dressing Room

Really any public place you can think of is potential for getting bed bugs. The best way to prevent this is to always be aware of your surroundings.

What Should I Do If I Find Bed Bugs?

The first thing you want to do is probably identify that you do indeed have bed bugs and not a bug that looks like them. And if you are waking up with bites you should know how to identify what a bed bug bite looks like.

After proper identification you now know for sure you have bed bugs you need to act fast!

If you bed bug problem is contained to only a few rooms you can be successful getting rid of bed bugs with the same bed bug spray I used.

Although if the problem is an infestation of your entire home you may need to get professional help which will cost a lot more money than doing it yourself.

Nobody wants to attract bed bugs, but they love to feed on human blood which will always make us humans a target.

There are ways to prevent bed bugs and repel them that you can start to employ immediately.

A dirty home doesn’t attract bed bugs, but it’s still a good idea to declutter your home giving bed bugs fewer places to hide and making it easier to spot them if you do have them.

If the problem is large like a total infestation of your home the costs to get rid of bed bugs will be much more expensive than a small problem that is contained to a certain area of your home.

That’s why it’s important to act fast and eradicate bed bugs as fast as possible then make sure to keep them out with preventive measures.
